The Library

22 December 2016

The theme of this year’s EMEARC congress is “Libraries at crossroads: Resolving Identities”, that will allow to discuss the digital identity of Libraries, the communities it serves, the digital identity of their collections, and how can Libraries take on this new challenges.

IE Library will participate with the conference “Improving User Experience and the Opportunities for Engagement”, in which we will explain all the technologies that are now available at the library such as the My ie Library Account APP new features with the paypal payment of fines and the inclusion of the Smart Spaces, that mute the sound of the e-device automatically as you enter the library and allow notifications. Also other trendy technologies we currently have and that we are working on, will be covered like social bubles,  gesture recognition devices, such as Leap Motion or Myo Thalmic bracelets, or cardboard glasses and the ie WOW Room and all the opportunities it offers.

Other international Libraries will share their ideas and experiences on the subject, like the talk Regional and National Infrastructure in a Global Metadata from Wageningen University Tackling Our Print Legacy from University of Aberdeen, The Times Are A-Changin from Information and Communication Faculty of Stuttgart Media University and more.

The aim is to build a place for shareing knowledge and good practices and to be constantly evolving to undertake major changes in our identities to meet new challenges and make new initiatives to reach out new users and communities.
