The loan is personal and non-transferable.

Most of the IE Library's holdings are electronic, you can consult them online through our catalog.

You have to self borrow the materials inside the library through DiY IE Library APP  in the Smart Station devices or through your own smartphone.

If you have any problem during the self-borrow, contact a librarian.

The IE ID Card is necessary to borrow any material. Remember, you need to activate it before making your first loan.

The loan service is not available starting half an hour before the library is closed.

Special conditions are announced before each holiday period.

Some materials are excluded from the loan service, such as those in the reference and quarantine sections, printed magazines, or items indicated as such. Items from PhD shelving location can be loaned only by PhD and DBA students, Faculty, and Staff.

Archive materials are available but are not of free access. However, those materials are at your disposal and can be requested from the library at any time, you have to make a hold. If the archive item is at your library´s campus, it will be served within 3 days.

If there is any inappropriate behavior in the library or with its materials, IE Library reserves the right to block any user account, and even deprive it of all the services and products the library offers. The user will be always notified in advance.

Users can ask the IE Library to reserve materials whether they are available or out on loan through "My User Portal" from the library web or the DiY IE Library APP. From our catalog search the material you want and click the "Get it for me / placed hold" button.

When the material will be available for a loan, you will receive a notification. This material is located in a special area, with your name on a paper. Take the one with your name and borrow it through DiY IE Library APP.

The material will be on hold for 24 hours from the notification. If after that time the material has not been picked up, it will go to the next user in the queue or returned to the shelves.

Renewals can be made through "My User Portal" from the library web or from the DiY IE Library APP in the Smart Station devices or through your own smartphone.
To renew items inside the library through the app is mandatory to use your IE ID Card activated.

You need to return your borrowed items inside the library, through DiY IE Library APP. Leave them in the trolley near the Borrow & Return station. You can also leave them in the available drop boxes.

If you do it with your own Android device, confirm your returns at the "Complete your return" point, at the Smart Station.

You don't need your IE ID Card to return your loans.

Fines will continue to accumulate daily on all overdue items until the item is returned or is declared lost by either the borrower or the Library.

You will pay the amount due through DiY IE Library APP by credit card or PayPal.
The amount raised will go to collaborate in NGOs projects, according to the IE Library Corporate Social Responsibility.

If an item is lost during your loan period or returned in bad conditions, it will be the responsibility of the holder to replace that item to the library. Notice that some items are rare or are no longer in stock; those considered as such, due to their difficulty to find and high value, will be charged as double their price.

Former members of IE Community who still have materials pending to be returned to IE Library will be excluded from all IE Library services and products on an indefinite basis.

Below, you can see the fines, by the number of days delayed and type of document, for each type of user.

The Quarantine section offers items selected by faculty members so that they can always be consulted in the library.

Documents that belong to the quarantine section are excluded from the loan service and can only be consulted in the library.

Quarantine sections are located in a specific area of the IE Library and can be distinguished by their sticker color, red (Madrid) and green (Segovia).

PhD Quarantine is the shelving location where the books selected by faculty members for PhD and DBA Students are held, so they can always be consulted in the library. These books are excluded from the loan service too.

My User Portal is your own virtual library space. As an IE Community member, you can access it with your IE credentials (e-mail and password).

You can check your on-loan items and return dates; renew your loans and check how many renewals have left; place and cancel holds; check for outstanding fines; check and receive your interlibrary loan petitions of electronic resources; search on IE Library catalog and on WorldCat, the world's largest library catalog.
