SUMMARY:CIVICA RESEARCH – Ethical rules in conducting and promoting research in social sciences
DESCRIPTION:Ethical rules in conducting and promoting research in social sciences \nEthical rules in social science research have raised increasing concern\, reflection and continued discussion in the research community. Research ethics consists of a core set of scientific norms\, developed over time and institutionalised in the international research community. The purpose of this session is to highlight the fundamental norms of research ethics. It will discuss the main actors that are responsible for ensuring compliance with research ethics\, but also several case studies to illustrate different ethical challenges and possible options to solve them. A distinction between ethics and law will be made\, in order to clarify the legal basis for the investigation of scientific misconduct and for dealing with personal data particularly in qualitative social science research. \nSpeaker: \nDr Miruna Butnaru Troncotă\, Lecturer in the Department of International Relations and European Studies\, National University of Political Studies and Public Administration \nThe CIVICA institution hosting this event is the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA). SUMMARY:STATISTA - FAST and unfastidious: the video streaming transformation
DESCRIPTION:FAST and unfastidious: the video streaming transformation \nOn Thursday\, March 02\, Vadim Makarenko\, Director of Research Digital at Statista and Agnieszka Guttmann\, Team Lead Research Media will share interesting insights of the TV streaming trends and thereby will focus on free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) in particular. \nFrom a consumer standpoint\, video streaming is empowering. You decide when\, what\, and how you watch. And binge-viewing is one of the most important manifestations of this empowerment. No limits\, no schedule\, no ads… Wait a moment! Actually\, ads are coming back as subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) platforms are stagnating or even losing customers\, particularly in the saturated U.S. market. Another impulse for changes in the industry is the looming recession and slowdown in consumer spending on entertainment. While ad-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) has been growing rapidly in the last few years\, another advertising-based segment has caught the attention of consumers\, copyrights owners\, and advertisers: free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST). How is it impacting the video streaming industry? \nDuring the webinar Agnieszka and Vadim will address the following:\n·        How ad-supported streaming opens doors to new audiences.\n·        Whether FAST is an answer to attracting subscribers and increasing revenue.\n·        If video streaming is going back to TV basics and at what level \nPlease note this webinar is offered three times. Please use the dropdown to select the time that suits you better. Make sure to use the “Show in my time zone”-button. \nIf you have any questions\, don’t hesitate to reach out to webinars@statista.com. \n2 March 2023. \n9:30am – 10:am \nRegister here \n  \n

SUMMARY:CIVICA RESEARCH - FAIRness of Open Research Data
DESCRIPTION:FAIRness of Open Research Data \nFAIRness guarantees adherence to the principles of open access\, interoperability\, reuse\, adding value\, and encouraging new research. \nOpen science has been prioritized by the European Council for the environment of research and education. Data expression through specific languages\, reusing research data\, and annotation with discoverable metadata are all required components of the FAIR principles. The shift towards open data forced the development of new methods for processing data in various environments and using various technologies (description and storage standards\, platforms and repositories\, security issues\, publishing formats\, usage and citation requirements). As a stand-alone characteristic\, FAIRness guarantees adherence to the principles of open access\, interoperability\, reuse\, adding value\, and encouraging new research. \nTuesday 28 February 2023 \n11:00-11:30 CET \nONLINE \nRegister here
