ASEAN COMMITTEE IN MADRID DONATES A COLLECTION OF BOOKS TO GUILLERMO DE LA DEHESA LIBRARY

It was a great pleasure to receive at Guillermo de la Dehesa Library the delegation of five Southeast Asian Embassies in the occasion of the inauguration of the ASEAN Corner at IE University.

The Embassies of Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines donated around fifty books focused on economy and business of ASEAN community and the member states individually, that will allow IE students to expand their knowledge about the region and will contribute to one of the IE’s pillars – diversity.

ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), is an intergovernmental organization of Southeast Asian states that is currently made up of 10 countries in the Southeast Asia region: Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines.

It is an honor for our library to receive this donation, which allows us to expand knowledge and access cultures of the world, that helps us to promote SDG Goal 4 “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”.  With this collection, the library fund is enriched, promoting the knowledge and cultural diffusion of said regions.

The Library wants to especially thank the Embassy of Thailand for the management, and the ASEAN Committee in Madrid, including the Embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia, The Philippines and Vietnam,  for this collaboration which is aligned with SDG Goal 17 “Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development”.
