MEMBERSHIP AND COOPERATION

The Library is a member of several associations at regional, national, and international levels. We work closely with our strategic partners to share knowledge and continue growing.

Our Library is a member of the ALA American Library Association, the oldest and largest library association in the world, founded in 1876. It was created to promote library service and librarianship. The stated mission is, “To provide leadership for the development, promotion, and improvement of library and information services and the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all. As an ALA member, our Library has also been included in several of ALA’s divisions, such as LITA (Library and Information Technology Association), LLAMA (Library Leadership and Management Association), and ACRL (Association of College and Research Libraries).

CIVICA – The European University of Social Sciences unites ten leading European higher education institutions in the social sciences, humanities, business management and public policy. The CIVICA alliance aims to serve European societies and educate the next generations of Europeans. Building upon decades of successful partnerships and developing an innovative, resilient, and future-oriented European University that actively contributes to the transformation of European higher education and research.

The Library is a member of Consejo Latinoamericano de Escuela de Administración CLADEA (The Latin American Council CLADEA Management School). It is one of the largest networks of business schools worldwide. This international organization provides a system of international cooperation and reciprocal membership and has links with leading academic institutions throughout the world. CLADEA has more than 140 affiliated schools in Latin America, North America, Europe, and Oceania, which are higher education institutions dedicated to teaching and research in the area of public and private management.

Our Library held the 14th CLADEA Directors of Documentation Centers Meeting that took place in 2017, from October 2 to 5.

The Library has signed a collaboration agreement with Dircom (Association of Communication Directors). Thanks to this, the library’s fund has been extended with part of the collection donated by them, on various subjects of great interest: Communication and Media, Business Management, Human Resources, Public Relations, Marketing, Information Systems, Politics, Economics, Law, Public Administration, Business Administration, Organizational Behavior, Corporate Strategy, Advertising, and more. Dircom is a professional association encompassing communication managers from the most important Spanish companies and institutions, as well as the top managers of communication consultancies. Its vision is to enhance the role played by communication and its managers within companies. Its mission is carried out through four main goals, Acknowledgement, Professional Development, Networking, and Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Library is a member of the European Business School Librarian’s Group. The purpose of EBSLG is to provide a pan-European forum for the directors of the libraries of the leading European business schools. Members meet twice per year to discuss issues of mutual interest, share information, and participate actively in working groups.

Our Library held the EBSLG Continental Meetingthat took place in 2014, March 12th to 14th.

Our Library is a partner of EconBiz, a search portal for economics and business studies that offers literature searches across important German and international databases and full text on the internet.

Its mission is to enable top research in economics and business studies with easy access to quality subject information in combination with state-of-the-art search features.

The Spanish Federation of Archival, Library, Documentation, and Museums (FESABID) is an entity of private law, a non-profit organization that meets with the relevant professional associations in the sector. The Federation is a meeting place for Spanish professionals represented by their respective associations to exchange knowledge and experiences and work together on projects of common interest. FESABID Is recognized as a spokesperson for information professionals and Spanish documentation by the Spanish Public Administration, the European Union, and various international organizations. 

Our Library participated in the 15th Spanish Conference on Documentation.

The Library is a member of LIBER (Ligue des Bibliothèques Européennes de Recherche – Association of European Research Libraries), the main network for research libraries in Europe. LIBER comprises more than 400 national, university and other libraries from more than 40 countries. LIBER’s network is not restricted to the area of the European Union and the participation of European research libraries outside the European Union is widely encouraged.

OCLC EMEA Regional Council 2016 Madrid

The Library has reached an agreement with the world’s largest research and librarian services company, OCLC, a provider of an integrated cloud-based system, WorldCat Library Management Services (WMS), to implement an Integrated Library Management System. This involves actively working with more than 72,000 libraries in 170 countries around the world. The leading technology is incorporated as a way of managing services. Our Library was the first library in Spain, one of the first in Europe, and the first library of a Business School in Europe that has begun working with the latest technological advances

OCLC is a nonprofit, membership, computer library service, and research organization dedicated to the public purposes of furthering access to the world’s information and reducing library costs. Libraries from around the world use OCLC services to locate, acquire, catalog, lend, preserve, and manage library materials. Researchers, students, faculty, scholars, professional librarians, and other information seekers use OCLC services to obtain bibliographic, abstract, and full-text information when and where they need it. OCLC accelerates the adoption of new ideas, new methods, and new policies, and also generates new services, existing services in new markets, in addition to exploring new ways to offer these existing services to the members.

Our Library is a member of The Academic Libraries Network REBIUN. The primary objective is to provide a REBIUN stable body representing all Spanish university libraries. Among the highlights REBIUN provides: raising the level of services and library infrastructure through cooperation, conducting cooperative actions that benefit users of Spanish university libraries, maintaining contacts with various agencies, and encouraging exchange and staff training.

The Library collaborates with The Spanish Association for Documentation and Information (SEDIC), which is committed to furthering exchanges of experiences and training librarians, documentarians, and other professionals in the information sector. The Association is also actively involved as a representative of our professional group’s interests at Spanish government institutions, the European Union, and different international agencies.

Our Library has the Social Science Research Network (SSRN), which is devoted to the rapid worldwide dissemination of social science research and comprises a number of specialized research networks in each of the social sciences. The Networks encourage readers to communicate directly with authors and other subscribers concerning their own and others’ research.
