LOANS BY USER
The User Portal is your own virtual library space. As an IE Community member, you can access it with your IE credentials (e-mail and password).
You can check your on-loan items and return dates; renew your loans and check how many renewals you have left; place and cancel holds; check for outstanding fines; check and receive your interlibrary loan requests of electronic resources; search the IE University Library catalog and WorldCat—the world’s largest library catalog.
Other libraries and documentation centers that are not connected to the University and individuals are considered external users, in addition to Alumni Plus and Alumni Essentials.
Every request must be submitted by contacting the IE University Library.
Documents ordered through this service can be used only for private, educational, or research-related needs. Their reproduction and use is regulated by current intellectual property law.

INTERNAL USERS
This service is used to borrow materials from other libraries outside of IE University Library’s holdings for research and study. Any material requested from the IE University Library will be acquired online whenever available in this medium.
PROCEDURE:
- Every request must be submitted by filling out this form or clicking the “Request item through Interlibrary Loan” button in our catalog . Note that e-book editions are generally not available for loan, so to speed up the ILL service, we recommend asking three chapters of the book scanned. In this case, please submit three ILL requests, one per chapter, in order to process them properly.
- Regarding printed copies, due to delays in customs, mail services, and other aspects, we also recommend asking three chapters of the book scanned to speed the service up.
- Multiple requests for one user will be managed in sets of three. The same material may not be requested more than once during the academic year.
- The loan is personal and non-transferable.
- Inquiries will be processed provided the user does not have pending fines and/or overdue materials.
- Electronic documents will be sent on the User Portal.
- The loan period for a printed document: 21 days.
- Please, note it may take longer to deliver hard-to-find, rare or out-of-print books. Before requesting this type of material, users will be notified and asked if they are interested in receiving it.
FINES:
Failure to return material on time will entail a fine. This rule applies to all users.
When a physical item requested is not used, a fine will be incurred between €50 -€75. Until this fine is settled, the library reserves the right to refuse all Library services. Fines will be managed on DiY IEU Library APP and must be paid for with credit card or by PayPal.
Users are responsible for the materials during the loan period. If the material is lost or returned in poor condition, the holder must replace that material.
OCLC / REBIUN & OTHER CONSORTIA
Libraries and institutions that belong to OCLC, REBIUN or other consortia can benefit from the below privileges.
OCLC institutions can request the items through the Tipasa ILL management system in their own catalog or through the following form.
REBIUN and other consortia requests need to be submitted through this form, selecting the topic “OCLC / REBIUN & OTHER CONSORTIA Interlibrary Loan request”. This is also an option for OCLC institutions.
