The IEU Library has introduced a new Thesis filter within its E-resources and Databases section, making it easier to identify databases and platforms that provide access to theses and dissertations.

Theses and dissertations can be valuable sources for academic research. They often provide detailed literature reviews, extensive bibliographies, methodological approaches, and research findings that can help students and researchers explore a topic in greater depth or identify previous work in their field.

The new filter allows users to quickly narrow the Library’s database collection according to this type of content. From the E-resources and Databases page, simply select Thesis in the discipline or content filter to display the relevant resources.

Among the platforms available through the Library, users can find resources such as ProQuest Business Dissertations and Theses, EBSCO Open Dissertations, and EThOS, which provide access to or help researchers discover doctoral theses and dissertations from different academic institutions and subject areas.

This new functionality can be particularly useful when preparing a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis, dissertation, research project, or literature review, helping users broaden their source discovery beyond journal articles and books. The filter is designed to reduce the time spent identifying suitable databases and make the Library’s specialised research resources easier to navigate.
