IEU Library had the chance to attend to Spanish National Library about Bibliotecas, datos, inteligencia artificial: nuevas rutas hacia el conocimiento last week. It was a unique opportunity to meet some of the libraries and AI Spanish experts talking about the new paths that libraries are taking.
The nature of AI has been discussed as its use in library environments. Ana Santos, the Spanish National Library director, has introduced this seminar talking about how the work of librarians has been changing in the last years. Following her discourse: “We must reflect since the history of libraries is the history of collections, of knowledge, and demand from society. Today it is time for us to use and reuse the content and data that heritage institutions preserve. AI is no longer entirely a new world, and it is going to change the way librarians work and we must be very alert”.
Also, we had the opportunity to listen to other experts such as Javier Cañada, Salvador Estevan, Andrew Cox, and Javier de la Rosa, among others. Moreover, the importance of establishing a legal framework around the use of AI was also discussed to ensure and preserve the work of artists and their works.
The Library demonstrates its involvement and commitment to society following the IE Strategy, and this is a great example of SDG #4, related to high education.
At the IEU library, we always try to stay up to date with the latest developments in the current library scene, offering you the best resources and services.
