On May 2024, our Library Director, Alicia Fátima Gomez has given a Conference and several workshops at Costa Rica’s University about Research Data Management, FAIR Data and Data Management Plans (DMPs). These sessions were an amazing opportunity to share knowledge between university researchers.

During the first conference, “Research Data Management in the context of Open Science,” Alicia F. Gómez presented the fundamental concepts of research data management and its importance in the open science framework. The conference is available online here.

Moreover, she taught a 2-day hands-on workshop on these subjects, explaining practical issues on how to store and share data, how to make data FAIR, licenses, etc. Those aspects are important to be compliant with the main funder’s requirements on open data and its implications with the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) principles.

She also participated in a Costa Rican’s librarians working meeting, leading the session together with the coordinator of the Documentary Information System (SIDUNA) of the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica. The seminar aimed to discuss the ways in which libraries support the open science movement.
