Looking for Compulsory Books? Visit the Library Use Only Section

At the Guillermo & Michèle de la Dehesa Library, we know how important it is to have easy access to the materials required for your courses. That’s why we provide a dedicated Compulsory Books collection, designed to ensure that all students can consult the essential readings recommended by their professors throughout the academic year.

Compulsory books are titles that have been identified as mandatory or highly recommended for specific courses. To guarantee equal access for everyone, these books are located in a special section called Library Use Only. This means they are reference copies: they can be consulted freely inside the library, but they cannot be borrowed or taken outside.

You can find the Library Use Only section at all IEU Library locations: Segovia, Madrid (María de Molina), and Creative Campus. Students are welcome to use these materials whenever they need them, whether to prepare for exams, complete assignments, or review key chapters, but always within the library spaces.

These collections are updated every academic year to match current course syllabi. This ensures that the compulsory books available reflect the most recent teaching needs and academic requirements, making them a reliable support for your studies.

Identifying compulsory books is very easy. In the Segovia & Creative Campus , they are marked with a green sticker, while in Madrid, you will recognise them by a fluorescent red sticker. This visual system allows you to quickly spot them on the shelves and know instantly that they are part of the Library Use Only collection.

If you have any questions about compulsory books or need help locating a specific title, the IEU Library team will be happy to assist you. These resources are here to support your learning, right when you need them.
