IEU LIBRARY ATTENDS OPEN SCIENCE FAIR 2023

IEU Library had the chance to participate in the Open Science Fair 2023 last month. From the 25th to the 27th, the librarians attended more than 10 webinars about OS, met other librarians and sponsors, and joined in different workshops.

What is OS FAIR 2023?

OS FAIR 2023 is organized by OpenAIRE, a not-for-profit organization to ensure a permanent open scholarly communication infrastructure to support European research. This year the event will be co-organized with FECYT, from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. The OS FAIR 2023 will also be one of the key events organized under the auspices of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

OS FAIR 2023 aims to bring together and empower open science communities and services; to identify common practices related to open science; to see what the best synergies are to deliver and operate services that work for many; and to bring experiences from all around the world and learn from each other.

How was the event?

The Conference took place at the Reina Sofía Museum and Ateneo de Madrid, two emblematic spaces that welcomed us during those days. The sessions were divided between workshops, round tables, project presentations, and panels. Throughout the 3 days, we have been able to learn first-hand from great professionals everything that surrounds the Open Science ecosystem.

Likewise, the researcher’s workflow has been discussed, from writing an article to its possible publication in Open Access. One of the highlights was Diamonds OA publications, which are making their way into the publishing world. Projects such as coARA, Matilda, Spispace, SCINOBO, or NER are emerging in the scientific world, finding their way among researchers and librarians, whose dissemination function is as important as their use. IEU Library has taken note of all these amazing projects, to possibly implement them in a new future in our Library.
