Guillermo and Michèle de la Dehesa Library continues to expand its commitment to accessible, collaborative research by joining two key resource-sharing networks: LVIS (Libraries Very Interested in Sharing) and ICAC (Acuerdo de Intercambio Compensado de Artículos Científicos).
Resource sharing is a fundamental pillar of academic libraries. Through the Interlibrary Loan service, IEU Library participates in reciprocal agreements that allow institutions to exchange materials and supply documents free of charge, always in compliance with current copyright regulations and licensing agreements.
By becoming part of LVIS, a global network of more than 2,400 libraries connected through the OCLC resource sharing system, IEU Library gains access to an extensive international community committed to the free exchange of knowledge. Membership enhances workflow efficiency by facilitating the identification of partner libraries and broadens access to diverse collections worldwide. At the same time, it reinforces a shared commitment to sustainable, cost-effective collaboration across institutions of all sizes and types.
In addition, IEU Library has joined ICAC, a Spanish cooperative agreement designed to promote the free electronic exchange of academic documents, including journal articles and book chapters. The agreement establishes clear procedures for participation while encouraging balanced and sustainable distribution of requests among member libraries. This collaborative model supports equitable access to scholarly content within Spain’s academic community.
Together, these partnerships strengthen IEU Library’s ability to support teaching, learning, and research by ensuring that users can obtain the materials they need beyond the boundaries of the local collection Through LVIS and ICAC, IEU Library reaffirms its dedication to responsible knowledge sharing and to building strong networks that expand research opportunities for the entire university community.
