PURPLE CORNER CELEBRATES ITS THIRD ANNIVERSARY

One of the main principles of IE University is equality, and the Purple Corner reflects this. This project is part of IEU Library, which promotes equality and women’s empowerment. It’s been three years since we started this section, and it has been increasing every month.

Purple Corner was possible thanks to the IE Gender Equality Office, IE Knowledge, IE Library and Junta de Castilla y León. This project is framed in the Equality Gender objective from the Agenda 2030. The ALA -American Library Association- recognised in 2020 the Purple Corner as one of the best librarian practices in this field.

This anniversary took place at the same time as the Internacional Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The IEU Library and Gender Equality Office organized a reading activity for those people, which thanks to their recommendations and collaborations, made this project grow up.

This meeting was a Reading Club about Desencajada (Caballo de Troya, 2020), an autobiographic novel from the ucranian journalist, Margaryta Yakovenko. This year, she received the Award Gaudí Gresol de Literatura.

The Purple corner is an environment for everyone to collaborate and grow to fight against violence on woman. All the students are welcome to participate, create content, collaborate, recommend books, and more…
