On October 30th, the IEU Library and INAECU proudly hosted the “Open Science Journey: Experiences from Researchers in Business and Law“, a day dedicated to exploring Open Science practices, sharing expertise, and fostering collaboration within the academic community. The event brought together various participants, including researchers, students, and information professionals, who gathered to discuss the transformative impact of Open Science on research and academia in the Business and Law fields.

The conference featured insightful sessions: Alicia Fátima Gómez opened the event with a compelling introduction to Open Science, focusing on the essential statements or implications of Open Science and Open Access; and the opportunities these practices can bring. Afterward, Manuel Bermejo Castrillo provided an engaging exploration of Open Science within social sciences and law, highlighting both the unique benefits and the potential challenges of openness in these areas. Lately, Eva María de la Torre shared findings from her comprehensive research on Spanish academics’ perspectives and practices regarding open access. Last, Javier de la Cueva closed the session by looking at open science and intellectual property, addressing the balance between openness and legal protection.
