She shared the guidelines and experiences from The IFLA Environment, Sustainability and Libraries Section, and RECIDA Spain best practices, followed by Insightful presentations from library professionals sharing sustainability initiatives at their institutions.
IE Sustainability Office and the Library led a dynamic workshop titled “Sustainability in Action: Libraries as Catalysts for Change.” The participants had the opportunity to discuss all the ideas presented on sustainability and libraries, the conclusion was that creating a sustainable library involves using clean energy, efficient resource management, and promoting accessibility. Key strategies include solar panels, smart windows, and climatization sensors to reduce the carbon footprint, while green spaces and eco-friendly products enhance the environment. Engaging students, utilizing e-resources, and ensuring Open Access is crucial for inclusivity and efficient resource use. Collaboration and knowledge sharing further enhance sustainability and social impact.
The event also included a tour of the IE University Library at María de Molina, a business meeting for EBSLG members, and a visit to the National Library of Spain.
